David Metcalf, Ph.D.

Dr. Metcalf has 25+ years of experience designing and researching enterprise applications and emerging technologies across Military, Energy, Space, and Health (MESH). Dr. Metcalf is Director of the Mixed Emerging Technology Integration Lab (METIL) at UCF’s Institute for Simulation and Training. The team has built mHealth solutions, simulations, games, eLearning, mobile, enterprise IT systems for Google, J&J, VA, Department of Energy, U.S. military, UCF’s College of Medicine, and many others. In addition to research and commercial investments, he supports social entrepreneurship in education and health. Dr. Metcalf continues to bridge the gap between corporate learning, simulation, non-profit, and social entrepreneurship. Dr. Metcalf co-authored ABC: AI, Blockchain, and Cybersecurity for Healthcare (2024) and AI for Blockchain Applications (2025). Current research projects include AI, Blockchain, Cybersecurity (post-quantum), simulation, IoT, mobilization, mobile patient records and medical decision support systems, visualization systems, scalability models, secure mobile data communications, gaming, innovation management and operational excellence.
